The first step is a complimentary phone call to determine if we are mutually a good fit. The Recovery Process

Typically recovering from disordered eating behaviours or an eating disorder is a slow and lengthy process that cannot be rushed. We will move at a pace you feel comfortable moving at. Your nutrition support treatment plan is individualized for you based on your severity and frequency of symptoms (ex. Bingeing, purging, restricting, etc).

Interdisciplinary Approach

An eating disorder is a multi-faceted, extremely complex mental health condition. Addressing the root cause and exploring the emotional component is essential in recovery, which is why we collaborate with psychotherapists, psychologists, and social workers specialized in this area.

Speaking From Experience

For nine years, I immersed myself in rowing, with five of those dedicated to competing as a lightweight rower. Rowing is a weight class sport which enables a culture highly focused on weight and aesthetics. Myself, along side so many other rowers around me, struggled with disordered eating due to the nature of my sport’s weight requirement, but also from a tremendous lack of support in this area. This has fuelled my passion in helping those athletes who like myself, needed it the most.

What We Will Accomplish Together

Symptom Interruption Through Mechanical Eating

Mechanical eating is an approach which adds structure and consistency with meals and snacks in your day. We work to normalize your portion sizes and types of foods. Although uncomfortable at times, this stage is crucial in disrupting the pattern of restriction, bingeing, and/or purging. Mechanical eating is also essential in retraining your body to respond to normal eating patterns, allowing it to rediscover hunger and fullness cues.

Challenging Fear Foods & Food Avoidances

Here, we challenge the rules of ‘forbidden foods’ imposed by the eating disorder/disordered eating voice. We will gradually challenge these rules and beliefs through exposure therapy. My job is not complete until you to feel 100% comfortable and in control around all foods, and in any emotional state or environment.

Rebuilding Trust With Your Body & Healing Body Image

This phase includes adding flexibility to your day with food and trusting our body through relying more on intuitive hunger and fullness cues. The goal is for you to provide your body with adequate nutrient needs, and strike a sustainable balance between fuelling for sport & daily activities, with finding enjoyment through food.
